Pissing off USC

So apparently (possibly) we are pissing off USC in recruiting. This year, not too bad, but next year we could eat their lunch on a few guys.

If that happens, I expect shit to get a bit weird.

Never forget that the thing that precipitated Pac-9 sanctions on us was not us WINNING, but us stealing 'their' recruits. When we started beating them for guys like Nip and Ced White, they went insane.

I assume the same would happen now - and with the Pac-12s media deal being so fucked, it wouldn't surprise me if we got it worse this time.

Just a thought.

This sounds like a better problem to have than the problem of not winning enough games and having shitty players.

Just can't let it turn in to a problem we don't want to have.

25 years ago we paid for USC's incompetence under Larry Smith ...

Now SC has Clay Helton ... who makes Larry Smith look like a genius ...

Wouldn't shock me if SC tries to pull some really circumstantial dirt on us and then recommend that we receive sanctions similar to what they got for Reggie Bush.
 
USC isn't Texas. They can't do shit. If they actually had any sway, the NCAA wouldn't have bent them over the barrel like they did with the Reggie Bush non-story.

Does the conference still hand down sanctions? I feel like that hasn't happened in ages. I assumed they turned all that over to the NCAA like everybody else.
 
The implosion will be interesting.

The chatter on USC boreds revolves around "prove it" to Helton for the 2018/19 year.

A secondary chatter is the questioning of Helton's choices for assistant coach.

If we start getting deep into their underpants with winning head to head recruiting battles next year it will cause their fanbase to freak out. The meltdown will be delicious.

USC fans already feel it's okay for Washington to win a few battles as long as they still sit at the head of the recruiting table.

But if they begin to feel threatened for the likes of Thibodeaux or pola-mao (among others) it may be worth the money to subscribe to the USC sites.

Actually, next year is going to be unreal for d-line recruiting. We can't take them all so top guys are going to naturally be spread out.
