Petersen on Grit

Paraphrased: "Grit is the combination of passion and perseverance."

Can you hear Sark saying that?

Dude brah, grit harshes my mellow. The kids need to have fun... helps them play fast and loose.

Also, said that motivation is over rated when asked by someone if he has been pumping up Cyler... Basically he said it is stoopid. Actually referenced Stuart Smalley from SNL: "You're good enough, smart enough and people like you."

Also, was asked if he has seen improvement from Cyler this past week by Softy. I know Sark would have answered with something like, "You know, he has really come back well. I think he learned a lot of things and he is going to be better for it moving forward".

Peterman basically said that you aren't going to get drastically better in a week, it is about getting better week by week and sticking to the process.

I actually think it is hilarious that there are times in these press conferences where he basically says he doesn't like coaching that much. You just have to listen closely to hear it.

Seriously, huh?

I don't think he likes the press conference much, but coaching?

Yes, he has basically said at times he wishes he had never gotten into it. I think he loves doing it, and loves teaching. But there are a lot of aspects of the job he just doesn't like.

Perhaps I shouldn't have said he doesn't like 'coaching.' I'll concede that.

He clearly does not like the figurehead stuff, which to me shows how much Petersen loves the coaching part. The coaching is the payoff and the reason he's stuck with it. Still, Petersen doesn't suck ass at the public side of it, like Leach or Kelly. The guy is a pro.

In stark contrast, Sark loves the media attention but hates the coaching part (or he doesn't know how).

I agree with you, Grundle. Disregard my previous statement, it was not well said. We're still good even though you WTF'd me. Can we still be friends?

If I had a dollar for every time I got WTF'd ...

Then I just made you a dollar richer.

You're welcome.

I believe he dislikes media talking heads that expect a head coach to blow smoke up their asses with stories of triumph and turnarounds. Peterman is a realist and expert at coach talk.
