People who do this better than me (sometimes to a creepy extent), is this a normal April?

I drink too much to remember last month let alone last spring and the recruiting cycles before that, but are things unusually slow with recruiting this year? I vaguely remember a bunch of doom and gloom early in last year's recruiting cycle as well, then it finished like a boss. But was it THIS slow last year? Seems not only is basically nothing happening, but a lot of highly ranked targets have already committed elsewhere much earlier in the cycle. We also seem to be losing hope in a lot of the top targets a lot earlier than last year.
