It's chintresting. What gets lost in the daily Oregon / Washington shit spat is that both programs are in the top 15. For most of my fandom, that's not what you'd expect. I can remember thinking Oregon was ballzy going out of territory to go after a few of the recruits from the ballyhooed Miami Northwestern class of 2008 (almost all of which signed with Miami and underwhelmed) and being impressed that one or two of them were actually considering Oregon and made a trip out west. Word is Jacory Harris almost pulled the trigger and went with the Ducks. That was newsworthy back then.
Now you have both top programs in the dark corner of the PNW pulling in talent. Like it or not, it's good for each program to have a bitter rival. It draws more attention to each program and makes them relevant just from a top-of-mind standpoint.
You're only going to go so far with Cuog! as your primary competition.

I posted this article, BFD. The author talked about the truth at the time.
The only times I can remember mentioning recruiting rankings is when some dumb fuck Husky was running down our recruiting class when theirs was ranked lower. Hell some nuts here say that the only reason our 2019 recruiting class was in the top ten was they were overrated.
Moreover, wherever this ends up this is the reality.
1) I don’t know anyone including myself that though we would be as successful as last year
2) Most Realistic Ducks including myself thought we would be in the Top 15. At least that is what we hoped for
3) Most Ducks felt we would have the #1 class but felt they wouldn’t be surprised if UW was
If Bennett Williams, Noah and Badger commit I will be ecstatic about our class no matter where we end up.
