Pac-12 Power Rankings Week 5

The season is about to start getting a lot more interesting. A couple of the better teams in the conference have played but it won't get very interesting until two weeks. Here's how they look to me so far.

1 Oregon - The Ducks looks a little more complete than UW right now and their ugly road win is further in the rear-view mirror. If their defense is a little bit better than UW's and a lot bit better than USC's that could be big.
2. Washington - Sure, the Arizona game got ugly. They controlled throughout though and it never truly felt like they were going to lose. Concerned about the defense though and the offense gets frustrated against the prevent defense. What happens when a better team who can score on offense puts it on them.
3. Washington State - The Oregon State win looks even better now. Like Oregon, they look like they could be more balanced than other teams. We'll find out a lot about them at UCLA Saturday.
4. USC - I think people are overrating to the final at Colorado. They were up by 27 multiple times and probably just wanted to get out of the game on the road. Their defense still sucks though and Oregon and Washington have better playmakers around their QB.
5. Oregon State - I was ready to write off the Beav. Their still in the running though and will be a tough out for everyone, especially at home.
6. Utah - Terrible offense without Rising and it's still pretty limited with him I bet. Still gonna be hard for anyone to win in Salt Lake City.
7. UCLA - Typical UCLA team - they could beat anyone they could also lose to anyone - have some nice pieces in spots.
8. Colorado - They'll have to fight to get to six wins. They'll be a tough out at home and should be able to put up points on people.
9. Arizona - Hard to read. They played not to get blown out against UW. Fifita probably can't throw them into a game the way the rapist could but also less likely to throw them out of a game so interesting to see who they go with.
10. Cal - They're not close to the top 7 teams but just as good as anyone after.
11. Arizona State - They're not good but should get a little better every week.
12. Stanford - Bad. Terrible sign for UW Arizona only beat them by one point.

Their QB had one turnover and if they're able to run the ball a bit they have good enough receivers to do some damage. They are like most of the other 8-9 PAC 12 teams with that QB: good at home and shit on the road.

They are head and shoulders better than FCS Stanford running the most fucktarded offense I've ever seen.

I wouldn't overlook hosting WSU the week after the UW game. Bouncing back from that game will be challenging for both teams. UW is lucky get ASU at home. Utah at home I think will be a tough out for everyone, even without Rising.

I would play @Stanford over @Arizona 10/10 times. I just hope the desert didn’t take casualties for the game in two weeks. Tuli and Odunze have to healthy.

We all know the transitive results get way overblown in college football. I don't completely throw them out though and I'm not in love with AZ only beating Stanford by 1. Outside of that, Stanford has looked like they're in the running for worst power conference team.

Arizona looks like a 6-6 team to me and those can be hard outs on the road in the Pac-12 so a win is a win. Reminded me a lot of 2018 at UCLA where they got ahead and then just tried to grind out the game and the opponent was still firing on all cylinders. Ironically, that was also a game where UW just wanted to get a road W and move onto a big game with Oregon.

The 2016 team also went to overtime with an Arizona team in Tucson that went 3-9. Transitive isn't everything.

I haven't watched enough Oregon but I'd be curious to see what their fans think of the officiating this year. I remember hearing they like UW were getting flagged a ton, especially in comparison to their opponents. It also especially like UW is getting a ton of penalties bringing big plays back and on the other end extending drives for opponents and feels like opponents are only getting flagged if it's not a subjective penalty.
