The other D1A programs in Illinois are Northern Illinois, Illinois, aaannnd... probably more people in Chicago are Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Iowa fans

Reminds me of when Sark would pull Locker to have Polk in the Wildcat. Nothing says "offensive genius" like pulling your elite running quarterback so you can direct snap it to a running back.
 
I don't follow Cal footballs (who does?) but I remember that their recruiting under Tosh was pretty good. Did Dykes (lol) just need a year to get his system installed?

Or are they just playing a really shitty Big 10 team?
