Your point (@apag) is a separate issue from the rekick question. I'm sure they tried to get him the ball but Miles being a limp wrist and Stanford's D made it very difficult.
 
I don't think it is a seperate issue. The logic of he's our best player doesn't make sense when you make no effort to get him the ball on offense.

I agree that Stanfords D and Miley's play made it difficult. But you have to find a way. Get him on a reverse. Run a sweep for him. 3 offensive touches isn't enough. There are ways to get him the ball if you try. They didn't try.
 
I was all for taking a rekick. There wasn't a single reason on earth to believe the uw offense was going to go 65 yards. Give your only threat a chance to work.

that's exactly how I feel. I had zero faith the o-line could hold and that Miles could make any good reads and positive decisions and it's simply a calculated gamble that Ross is special enough that you kinda go for it.

Then again, Syracuse fake punt was sweet.

There really shouldn't be any debate about this. They have to kick it to your best player and biggest threat. Meanwhile, your offense has only scored 1 TD all game. And you gain an extra 5 yards. The odds are very low that you don't return it to close to the 30. Just happened to have a shit return. Big fucking deal. That loss of 19 yards had very little impact on the game. Still had a chance to tie the game with the ball on Stanfords 30, 1st down with a min left.

I didn't agree with the 4th down call but these are the risks you take to beat a better team because the percentages (and risk/reward of the situation) warrant taking these risks. Now if the game were tied, then you'd take the field position. Down 7 with offense not doing anything, you give Ross another crack.

There is one giant flaw with your point. You want to make them kick it to your best player...but you make no effort to get him the ball yourself all game? If that's the logic, if Ross is worth the risk, then why not get him the ball more?

Because he was covered, the o line sucks, and Miles can't through under pressure or even into a little bit of coverage. The had to bring in Lindquist to try to get it to Ross deep. Miles can't throw it that far.
