There is a dollar cost to derailments. Is it more than the cost to inspect hundreds of thousands of cars weekly? That's what the bean counters are figuring out. Ever since PSR precision scheduled railroading has come out derailments have gone up. Most minor so until East Palestine, nobody cared... now people are much more conscious about it.

I would like to see a breakdown of what part of the country most of these derailments are taking place.

There are two east/west railways in the Gorge. It seems like track maintenance is a priority. The number of trains each day is incredible, between 50-70.

How about a check of every train hauling extremely dangerous cargo like the Palestine incident? Shouldn't be that hard.

That's like half the trains... and it isn't hard they just need man power and equipment, that cost money that wall street is trying to avoid paying.

Read this somewhere that Union Pacific and BNSF have a fraction of the derailments of Norfolk Southern.
