Here is an idea. You take a six shot revolver and put in one bullet. Spin the cylinder, pull the hammer back, point at your head and pull the trigger. If nothing happened, just keep pulling the trigger until something does happen. There would definitely be a linear result over time. More fucking around, more finding out.
