New Concept II 2K WR by former UW rower

That's cooking. At my peak, I could average about 1:50 for 2k. I really should buy a rower for the garage.
1:50 for 2K for middle aged, average height, non ex rower is very respectable and puts you in a pretty good VO2 max most likely for your age. Respect.

Yeah, I can't think of better machine to have in the garage. Seems like you can get them used for like $600 ish vs $1100 new.

My PR at age 21 was 6:06 so 1:31.5 for 2K. That was pretty solid in those days. Anything sub 6:00 and you were national team material.

I'm too scared to try on now. Me and @whlinder prefer the old man distances like 5000 or 6000 meter.

I did sea level 5000 meters last year at 1:53 splits. In college I could hold 1:39 for 6000. The old man fall off is dramatic.

Two cars, bikes, storage racks, squat rack and bench, and a treadmill, along with a few other items. The wife is good about building toy donate piles and I take them to Goodwill regularly.

WTF? 2 cars and a home gym in the garage? Do you live in fucking Texas or something?

I'll tell you though, parking both cars in the garage is a hill I will fucking die on. Parking your cars outside is shit AF. Decreases the lifespan of the vehicle and it you live in a rainy, snowy climate, etc. it's such a pain in the ass.

A lot of the garages in our hood are too small, and these packrats have so much gear and what not that they have to park 1 or both cars outside. I laugh at them as they scrape windows daily.

Mrs Snow was about to divorce me over our Seattle house's piece of shit model t garage.

These days? That was standard a few years back?
No, it was not. It made me go look up what I pulled in a 500m race about 10 years ago, which was 1:25.x. Sigh. Memory always glorifies the past but evidence says otherwise.

Maybe I could hit 1:23 for a single stroke.

Don't be too hard on yourself.

Old man erg splits are always gonna suck.

I got gurl'd on a 6K recently by a 24 year chick. Granted she's 5'10" and fit as fuck.
There is some indoor world rowing champion lady who lives in VA and logs everything on the C2 website. Puts up sub 1:50 pace 5Ks. Whenever I look up the rankings in VA I feel like a loser. But then I remember that's the very best of the best and I have different goals for erging at this point in life.

You (royal you, not you specifically) poor if you ain't parking all your vehicles under cover. And all your toys like golf carts, UTVS, boats, etc.

And buy a fucking house that can fit whatever stairmaster, treadmill, bike, rowing machine without putting it in your goddamned bedroom.

We're not REAL rich, but these rules are followed to a T.

I also love living in a neighborhood with tight CCNR's- i.e., no boat, RV, etc parking on property. If you wanna have all the fucking toys, then you go buy a proper Guns n' Religion compound.

If you can't pee in your front yard, you're not a free man.

I'm still annoyed that I have one of the four 2-car garages in the neighborhood - the other 40 houses have 3 car garages. But if you don't buy new it's tough to be as picky about that stuff. The garage is still fairly large, though, I believe I measured it at 24' x 24'. Racks and ceiling mounted shelving are your friend.
