NCAA tourney no longer has a place for the Cinderella story

Least chinteresting March Madness of my lifetim.

Used to literally watch every game. Don’t even have the TV on in my office.
 
Portal killed the kid that was under recruited and was a killer at Drake or Davidson by his senior year. Now that kid is the 6th man at Tennessee or something and is getting laid and paid and lost his killer instinct.
 
Yep, NIL and transfer portal have killed college athletics. Most medium to small markets just don't know it yet but they soon will.
I have lost interest. When I'm not familiar with 75% of the team anymore, it's hard to get into it. No loyalty to the school anymore. Zero connection to the students or the campus for most players. One and Done's don't go to class, mingle with the student body, they drive $250K cars and haved nothing . Its not good.
I get it, shallow thinkers see nothing wrong with what is happening, but in the next 5 years many schools will start dropping programs and there will be an athletic labor union which will further erode the sports as we have known them.
 
I think I watched three Husky games, and five U of A games, including the Oregon game.

It's cool that Oregon and Gonzaga lost, but I have no interest. I used to fill out two or three brackets, and sign up for this stuff on Yahoo or ESPN. It's not as bad as the NBA, but they shoot way too many threes. The one and dones damaged this sport many years ago, and NIL made it worse.

Gonzaga/Houston turned out to be a hell of a game. Did watch that one.
Kelvin Sampson has morphed into Mike Leach. Very quotable. "I'm down with the State of Washington".
 
I have watched zero minutes of the tournament. At this point I'd rather watch Blippi with my 3 year old.

Eh this year didn't turn out bad at all in terms of the final 16 teams. UW hasn't made the tournament in 7 years. If they were playing in Seattle last weekend everyone would be dooging. Blippi and Jesse Waters are always going to be there tomorrow.

8 of us are going to San Diego next year for NCAA 1st/2nd round games and golf for my brother’s 50th. I’ve been at least 10 times in various years to various sites.
 
I'm the guy that wants to shut down UW hoops, remember? I'm actually not joking when I say that I would rather have more parking and money for UW football.

They keep following the advice of people that inherently hate college sports. The colleges will be left with the fallout and the people that called for all these changes will happily move onto the next activism victim.
 
I’d legit watch the women’s tournament if some power team D-1 men’s small forward starter transitioned to female and started Juwanna Mann-ing the rest of the field to a title.
Coopertina Flagg would set ratings records Caitlyn Clark could only dream about.

it’s the tournament so I’ll still watch but anyone trying to say that March 2025 is as compelling as it was 15-20 years ago is fucking retarded.

I mean that is a star studded field with hall of fame coaches and future NBA All stars littered all over the place. Curry and Davidson were the darlings of that tournament too.
It’s impossible to argue that college basketball or the nba for that matter, hasn’t regressed sharply over the last 2 decades.

I haven’t dooged for Husky hoops since IT was leading the team. Also haven’t watched a minute of the first weekend.
I stopped hating Gonzaga around the time they nearly beat UNC for the natty. I believe in the new era of college sports the Zagits won't be able to compete especially when Few retires.
 
The golden age was the 80s. You can look it up. Even Jordan stayed three year. Hakeem and Ewing 4.
