Penalty yards per game

96. Oregon State, 60.2 yards per game.
100. USC, 61.2
111. Oregon, 69.4
115. California, 72.2
121. UCLA, 89.25
123. Washington, 91.8

Note: Some coaches don't fret penalties -- Chip Kelly would shrug over these numbers. But it is notable that six Pac-12 teams are among the nation's most penalized teams. Are the teams the problem? Or the officiating?

I'd have had an easier time accepting the "officiating" explanation before I saw the Illinois game.

UCLA actually averages more penalties than us a game but they are so close in both categories it is moot.

I accept that with this new offense that there will be some penalties but Sark needs to get that number down closer to Oregon.

I'm too lazy...can someone figure out penalties per a play? Maybe that would be a more realistic stat for not only Washington, but much of the Pac-12.
