Inappropriate and callous maybe, but not a stupid question

It's not like 100% of guys in NFL locker rooms are petitioning for more Michael Sams
 
How did he mean it? Was he implying homosexuality or just asking him if he liked men in general like me and Dennis?
 
MM's biggest mistake was not following it up with if he liked women, if he liked transgendered people, if he liked furries, and if he liked having sex with animals. Gotta cover all at least some of the bases!
