This seems more like little-heart syndrome than anything. Here you are, a starting spot likely yours if you just work hard in Spring and the offseason, and you jump ship when you could've been a leader.
I get the impression this was a guy who liked cheerleading from the sidelines with no eagerness to feel the heat in the kitchen on games days, then go on social media and say football is his life.
Same with walk-on QB Alex Johnson. We were at a spot where we had no, or maybe 1, QB. For a walk-on who wants to play, this is your dream scenario.....but you portal, as if you think you've done something to warrant attention. W. T. H.?

I wonder if the coaches told him that he didn't have the measurables.
Klemm was 281 this year. Arizona's starting OL in 2023 averaged 325. Klemm is leaving on the first day of spring lifting, so he was probably told he needs to add 45 pounds if he hopes to see the field.
Might explain some of the other OL issues we're seeing is that Huff's OL is too small for Carroll

Is there a reason people believe that the spring portal is going to meaningfully change the line makeup of the team? Everything I've read and heard the past few years has been that the good players transfer in the December portal. Spring portal is for guys who realize they aren't gonna get as much playing time as they want. Also, by definition, those guys miss spring practices so they need to mesh with the team in fall camp alone.
We need a ton of OL (and interior DL), and I'm really skeptical that we're going to add many legitimate Big Ten starters in the spring. Am I missing something?
As some like to point out, money talks. Maybe Fisch is piling up the bags for a spring portal bonanza.
UW probably isn’t gonna have a good OL, so don’t twist, but to think there is no plan is retarded.
Saving for spring is the word on the street. Makes complete sense versus being limited to the few schools with open transfer windows due to coaching changes. Wait until April and it's a free for all.

No that's all correct, but beggars can't be choosers. We're almost certainly going to be weak on both lines and any numbers we get will be a boost.
The "Big Ten starters" thing is fucking stupid though. It's not like there was ever an imperative to "level up" now that Maryland and Purdue are on our schedule.

RE: "Big Ten starters", we're in the Big Ten now. If we were still in the Pac-12, I'd have said "Pac-12 starters". My point wasn't to grovel at the feet of the almighty superconference, it was that what we're getting in the spring portal is probably just bodies, not guys who would start at a majority of schools elsewhere in the conference.

Meh. As long as the unlimited transfer ruling holds there will be good starters for B12, MW and AAC schools that might take a swipe at a big bag. There are more guys like Azzawhatever from SDSU out there that aren’t making shit. Go find them. Talk to the HS coaches you’re tight with and gauge interest from their former players spread around the country. When there was a limit on how many times you could move the first window was major. Now? Money talks. Retarded or not, that’s the plan. I hope it works.
