This is interesting. Biggins thinks Smith (sho he says might be the best db in the west) is going to commit to USC soon to "lock in his spot" but will take all 5 visits and thinks UW might actually be the school Smith likes the most.
Weird shit this year
On the recruiting front, Smith said he’s getting close to making his college choice.
“It could be end of the month or early July but I’m getting close,” Smith said. “I feel good about a school and I’m ready to lock in my spot. I still plan to take all five of my official visits though and that’s really important to me.
“I wasn’t one of those players that had a ton of schools on him early. I was kind of a late bloomer in terms of recruiting and I didn’t get to take a lot of visits. In fact, USC is the only school I visited. I have been to a game at UCLA and walked around a little at Cal but that has basically been it. So I want to take my trips and experience all that.”
Smith said he's still considering several programs and said the five schools he would like to visit as of now are USC, Washington, Clemson, Alabama and Texas. He added Oregon, Arizona State, Auburn and Michigan are also on his list.
He broke down what stands out about the Husky program.
“I’ve always wanted to visit Washington," Smith said. "I’ve said it before but growing up, that was a favorite school of mine and a lot of other people who played in the Snoop League.
"They had several players from Snoop League on the team, John Ross being the most notable so a lot of us liked UW and rooted for them because of that. I’ve heard great things about the place, not just the football program but the campus, how nice it is there and what a great academic school it is so a lot of good things about the program."
Smith said he's being recruited by multiple UW coaches right now.
“I have a good relationship with their staff and hear from Will Harris and Terrence Brown a lot.," Smith said. "They're both great guys and I'm very comfortable talking to them. Coach Lake is another great coach, a defensive minded coach who knows the DB position really well too.
"Washington has a great reputation at getting their DBs drafted and of course that’s a big goal of mine. Coach Lake has a lot to do with that so I know he would be someone fun to play for. I really wanted to visit over the Spring but visits got shut down so UW will definitely be one of my first official visits for sure.”
