Nobody else here will probably care about this (except for maybe Meek), but here's a contemporary Japanese pianist who has studied and loved Charlie Parker and the beboppers ever since childhood. Parker died back in 1954 or '55, so here's a guy whose music spans more than 60 years and halfway around the world to greatly influence a young girl studying music. I love that kind of thing.
