You guys are ignoring the proven fact that they will get hot in August, make it close, and barely miss the playoffs with 84-86 wins. It'll be more Ms glory. What are you negative asses going to say then?
Mrs. Dipoto, is that you?Dipoto can’t turn water into wine. His name isn’t on the checks…like everything else in life, follow the money, or lack thereof.
He may be doing the best he can, but I resent the fact that he regularly blames the fans for being negative or not supportive enough. He knows what's going on, he knows his owner is cheap, we all know it. Don't lie to our faces about it and tell us to be happy and just bend over to get driven home without a car.Dipoto can’t turn water into wine. I recently realized that Dipoto is a dead ringer for a guy I've dealt with in a business arrangement who I ultimately came to strongly dislike. It isn't helping his cause with me.Brandon Gomes is the best GM in the game. His acumen for discovering, signing and developing talent is unmatched, He has found “diamonds in the rough” such as Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Blake Snell. Gomes is a brilliant decision-maker. His best decision: working for a consortium of really rich people who will spend as much money as it takes to win…
(End snark)…Dipoto’s hands are tied, and he gets paid quite well to be the face, and take the heat, for ownership’s “investment”…
How many of Dipoto's position players he's drafted have turned out worth a shit? None of them can hit. That's on him. Don't need to have the highest payroll in the league to draft guys who can hit the ball, and then get them developed to reach the show.Brandon Gomes is the best GM in the game. Nah you seem too sober most of the time to be Baird.I’m not a “Superfan” of Dip, but to address the draft, it is a fucking crap shoot. When I was in the business, the goal was three future big leaguers per draft. Kyle Lewis (RIP) and the Dumper, off the top of my head. He has gone pitching heavy with success. Hitting is an issue and will continue to be until Stanton is gone and they overpay. Am I becoming the Dick Baird of this bored?!?!

I'm 95% sure the selection of Dan Wilson was a cheap attempt to tap into the old "You gotta love these guys!" routine from 30 years ago as a way to placate the dumb public.Nah you seem too sober most of the time to be Baird.I’m not a “Superfan” of Dip, but to address the draft, it is a fucking crap shoot. Your points are all valid. I think that Dip has failed pretty miserably with his off-season offensive acquisitions though. Garver, Polanco, Kolten Wong and AJ Pollock for example. Those have been the impact bats. The last really good trade I can remember was for Winker and Suarez.
It's early but I see Tellez getting dfa'd at some point (soon), Solano getting few at bats and making virtually zero impact, and Polanco struggling with his health all season. Money was tight, but there was some and I don't think he spent it well.
I think there's ample evidence suggesting that Dan Wilson wasn't the best choice for manager too.
Dipoto has been really good at the task he started with. He got them close. I don't think he gets another year if they miss the playoffs again though. The window is closing soon.
