I endured a coordinated a attack that involved my phone number being ported out without consent. And lost forever. On the same day my Coinbase was hacked and whoever took it over took $1200 from my account. My bank has since reversed those charges but my phone number ain’t comin back.

I work a fair amount with Apple engineers, and can attest to the fact that they're fairly serious about privacy. If they're to be believed, their competitors not so much.

Apple famously told the govt to fuck off when they wanted Apple to hack a phone of a "terror suspect". To my knowledge, they still have not moved off that position.
