Im not sure it’s racist but it’s purely political, some of the groups on the NW Oregon and SW Washington coasts have succeeded in banning them. Long Beach is next on the docket. Coinciding w/ the ban on fireworks is closing the beaches to motor vehicles. The underlying motivation for both is the unnecessary stress being put on pets and wildlife. Regardless of fire danger.
There’s a great Op-Ed in the Chinook Observer, then picked up by the Times, from a mid 40’s women from Seattle who visited the Peninsula w/ her dog on the 4th and sued the city and Pacific county for creating an environment that gave her dog PTSD.

The Chinook is a commie rag - I used to subscribe to it. Only for the weekly NYT Sunday crossword, not for the news (as they see it). The police reports were good as it helped me ID my neighbors. My dogs freak out at fireworks - that is what doggie valium is for - two or three days on valium is not that bad.
Driving on the beach is for a specific type of white trash anyway!
