Interesting take on Sedona

UKDawg grew up in the Verde Valley. I know Sedona and the surrounding area very well. Sedona has always been filled with crystal worshiping freakshows, artists, and very rich actors - not exactly a recipe for "fun at party types". It's like Santa Fe, only more so. And much more beautiful scenery.
When I was a teenager I used to say to anyone that would listen "who the fuck would want to come here for a vacation?". When I go back and visit my Mom the scenery has a different effect on me, I get it.
But the real game changer is Cottonwood. The guy from Tool started a vineyard and wine making venture and the whole old town has been completely transformed. People go to Cottonwood, and it's cool. Really good food. Good scene.

I think the town is Jerome. I went there looking for his vineyard about ten years ago

The mormons turn out good football players from there, or at least back in the day Blue Ridge was good for being like 3A or whatever they were.
Spent a few days in New Mexico recently. Fucking great time. Highly recommend ABQ, Santa Fe and Taos. Beata the shit out of PHX and AZ

Golfed in Scottsdale while in AZ to watch my Dwags get pummeled by ASU many years ago. Still have little dark spot scars on my leg where a cactus raped me while getting to a ball that was in the "rough." Fucking cacti. Been to the Southwest just enough times to hate the weather and the scenery. Marie should save a little more and go to Hawaii or any tropical beach over the desert.
The "Southwest" has a lot more weather and scenery than the PHX metro area. Scottsdale is fucking ugly and I say that having stayed at swank hotels like the Phoenician. But Sedona is gorgeous scenery. The who drive from PHX to Flagstaff if pretty darn scenic.
I drove up to Sedona, picked up Mrs Nacho and drove to Flagstaff to Winslow in honor of my favorite Eagles song and then down through the Tanto National Forest.
Other than going back into Phoenix, it was a beautiful drive.
