UW's first two first round picks in the NFL were in 1941. They were:

Rudy Mucha - #4 overall to the Cleveland Rams
Dean McAdams - #8 overall to the Brooklyn Dodgers

UW would not have another first rounder until 1952 when Hugh McElhenny went #9 overall to the San Francisco 49ers. Years later he would say that technically speaking, he took a pay cut to enter the NFL.

Mucha was a member of the "Strauss Boys". Dr Strauss was a UW grad who practiced in Chicago. He scouted many great players and sent them west to Seattle to play for the Dawgs.

So when the brooklyn dodgers moved west they became a baseball team (moved from NFL to MLB)?

I did not know that either.

Thanks, Taft.
