Softball and gymnastics are all I've seen on the main Pac 12 Network while scrolling since the basketball tournaments ended.

The Pac 12 airs as many women's sports as humanly possible on 7 different channels, to their own detriment/demise.

Basically paying a 13th conference member to show this shit just so you won't fucking bellyache about it.

What would the Pac 12 Network situation be if it was one channel, that outside of live football/basketball only aired classic football reruns and original content, 30-for-30 type stuff about Pac 12 football? Would the conference be fucked if they just did that instead of appeasing you?

Our fans on Twitter, it's either these dumb fuck takes, pictures of dinner they're making for their wives, or threatening to leave Twitter over Elon for the 100th time.

There was a time when the Pac12N was very good. Top 12 all time quarterbacks, historic games with commentary from coaches and players, etc.

It's like when Comcast had a Pac12 Saturday morning show featuring former players from all 4 NW schools.

It was like a lot of the shit talked about here, with some added comedy such as Jason Gesser proclaiming that Colorado was going to beat UW in the P12CG with Cam Cleeland smirking.

Doing 7 channels so you could show women's (and men's) Olympic sports meant it was an impossible sell to get the distribution needed. It was just a complete fuckshow from the beginning. And it wasn't all just Larry Scott, the Pac 12 presidents believed in it too.

Now the main channel is just sad. But they are still pumping as many softball/gymnastics/volleyball/water polo as they can. They barely even cover mens baseball and won't until the conference tournament.

I did pull example TV schedules for all the major conferences’ main channels (including the Longhorn Network) and they usually only have about two or three offerings a day for women’s athletics. (At this time of year, it seems to be women’s golf, softball, and volleyball.) As @haie says, on the Pac 12 Network it’s significantly higher, some days taking up almost half the programming.

Now, I’m torn because I know how important it is (especially for young girls) to see women represented in sports on network television. I loved watching female athletes compete in the Olympics, Wimbledon, etc. growing up. So I sympathize with Leah’s post…to a point.

I’m also a Pac 12 (and specifically Washington Huskies) *football* fan. Back when I got cable, I added the Pac 12 Network to catch programming about *football*. I got annoyed with ANY programming (men’s or women’s) that wasn’t catering to that interest. I suspect that most fans that subscribe to these conference channels care only about football (maybe basketball).

So what is the mission statement of these networks? To showcase all the universities’ sports? Or serve the interests of their paying subscribers?

I think the mistake these networks made (especially the Pac 12) from their inception was not being clear about what they were about. It just seems like they’re disappointing everyone at this point by trying to be everything to everyone.

Yes the University presidents wanted the Pac 12 Networks to be an infomercial for the schools and student athletes, which wasn't an intelligent business decision.

I'm sure Scott promised them enough money to make that still profitable.

There's nothing wrong with putting women's sports on like the other conference networks do (it's a discussion about obscure men's sports too), but you have to invest in football as much as you can and for whatever reason they completely fucked that up.

There were some top 12 all time shows (~15 minutes) as well as some historic game segments, it just wasn't nearly enough.

I mean fuck, there were some SiriusXM Pac 12 shows with Yogi and Mike Yam they should've aired like fox does with Cowherd. This isn't hard. Unless you're a retard and make 7 channels and can't get on major platforms as a result.
 
Just out of boredom, I looked at what the SECNetwork had vs. what the Pack 12 had over the next few hours

Pack 12 - Ute lacrosse (men), AZ women's basketball the story of 2020 (there was a pandemic?), Utes gymnastic, more women's stuff...

The SEC doesn't bother with woke bullshit. The SEC isn't negotiating with CW to try and get some awful deal.

Overall he's right but doubtful the Oregon teams are easy wins. Smith is competent and will have DJU being better than any QB they've had in a while
