How will the 12 team playoff work?

I get that the champ will have to win 4 games but will conference championships be eliminated? What's the maximum games the eventual champion will have to play? Injuries and holdouts are sure to play a massive role.

I think the top 4 get a bye, there are 4 games, then a final 8, then a final 4 then a championship. A top 4 seed could win it in three games. Seeds 5-12 need 4 wins.

I don't even know if that's right but it makes sense to me. 11 games total.

Depth/injuries were important even with a month long layoff before a 4 team playoff...

12 team playoff, means you have no chance if you dont have depth.

How will the 12 team playoff work? Doesn't need to. That's what slave labor is for.

So potentially 17 games or will most teams drop an OOC game? I still see the last 5 games of any of the top 12 teams having a tremendous impact from a beatdown/injury perspective. Teams without 2 and 3 deep depth won't survive.

They need to do away with conference championship games, that’s for damn sure. Why give one of your top two teams another loss? That’s dumb as fuck.

That's kind of where I was going with the original post. If I'm counting right, a team could potentially play 17 games now and that's way too many for these college kids especially when you consider at least the last 5 are against the best teams in the country. This is going to beat the shit out of these kids. I also think you might see more of the higher profile NFL bound guys say fuck it I aint risking injury and the 1st round.

Its only a matter of time until some hyper 5 star Deion Sanders hype machine guy abuses the 3 non conference cupcakes, wins 3-4 conference games in dominate fashion and then shuts it down as a "business decision".

See, the thing about the 12 team playoff that differentiates it from the current 4 team playoff is that there’s 12 teams. This means there are 8 more teams than currently exist in the present day playoff structure.

So I guess that’s the difference.
