Then I'd recommend a Jameson, Redi Whip and Folger's black coffee.

I've actually done that. But I think it was even cheaper than Jameson

Just slapped a new cart on my deck. I only run Yella brand. 1.75 grams @GrundleStiltzkin

Is that a Ortofon?

Rega Exact 2. Ortofon carts are the chit too. But Rega TT's are funky and you've got no adjustment to move the tone arm height up to fit an Ortofon cart w/o adding shims. The angle of the dangle is very important in the hi fi world.

I understood absolutely none of this.

I did a demo of possible new system yesterday. For the cost of of a used, no date Sub, one can buy a top of the line integrated amp and UK made speakers.
