Henry Hill Sells the couch

Always thought Goodfellas was overrated. An entertaining movie, but not as great as it's made out to be IMO.

This is my take on just about every mob movie. The plots are always straight lines and not arcs; ditto character development; nobody ever learns any lessons or changes, they just get offed, die of old age, or go to jail; nothing that makes me actually like or care about anybody. It's just mob things happening and then credits. Like watching a history documentary but of a fake history, so I fail to see the point.

Things guys who drive minivans say.

It's damn near un American

It's as unamerican as not having type-II diabetes or a belief in actual angels. Insanity, really.

I strongly disagree with your position on the genre.[/b] I still laffed.

Because it was almost as unamerican as high literacy or math scores?

Absolutely great thread… I personally love the genre, but this is like trying to explain the origins of rock music and why iron butterfly was hugely important after the fact to people that are younger.

Still there is a coolness factor that transcends age that even pups should recognize with their eyes closed. Yow, RIP, this guy was awesome and unforgettable in his roles and thank you for the dream state performance,

The "coolness" factor of Goodfellas was off the charts. The scene where Henry takes Karen on a date to the Copacabana is next level cinematography.

Too much awesome good old timey music for your tastes.

Soundtrack for The Waterboy > Goodfellas.

I didn't look them up, but pretty sure that's true.

Water boy soundtrack was great. But it’s not in the same league as GF.

You think they’re overrated because they mirror reality. Got it.
