I just don't see a good solution to this that doesn't require the refs giving a subjective opinion on if a guy is faking it or not. In both the situations where Oregon did it, a five-yard penalty would have been fine trade off for essentially getting a free clock stoppage. Another problem with having a fake media is people not just endlessly attacking Lanning for when he did it twice against UW the way the bots latched onto the thing with the 12 guys on the field against Ohio State this year.
