Henceforth to be known as the "Lanning Rule"

I just don't see a good solution to this that doesn't require the refs giving a subjective opinion on if a guy is faking it or not. In both the situations where Oregon did it, a five-yard penalty would have been fine trade off for essentially getting a free clock stoppage. Another problem with having a fake media is people not just endlessly attacking Lanning for when he did it twice against UW the way the bots latched onto the thing with the 12 guys on the field against Ohio State this year.
 
why wouldn't there just be a run off of 10 seconds or something. If they gain 20 yards to get into fg range and fake an injury the 5 yard penalty doesn't matter.
 
If the Seahawks were to draft Ferguson. I’m done. Seriously.
 
This is a thing that unfortunately is really hard to properly enforce. It would have to be a subjective decision thing about if the guy is really hurt or not, but then what if the guys do a good enough job of faking it? What if you penalize someone who actually does get hurt?
The thing is doing stuff like that just has to have the coaches and guys like that assclown Ferguson to be shamed beyond belief, and it wasn't, instead we get endless podcasts, and announcers endlessly glazing an honorable mention all conference tight end.
