Question for 12s, and less annoying people: Yesterday one of the Hawks' glaring failures was the inability of the front four to generate pressure on a gimpy Aaron Rodgers, despite all the money paid to Bennett and Avril. Am I the only one that thinks giving Brady this much time in the SB will result in disaster?

I think that Pete and company were watching the same game and will prioritize in practice over the next 2 weeks. The question is whether we will have to commit LBs to rushing the passer, or will we have the luxury of getting pressure from only 4.

Passion, this is the NFL. Guys don't dominate every week. Bennett and Avril are Pro Bowl caliber players and I'm not worried about them at all. There is two years of data that show these guys are pretty fucking good and are getting paid for a reason. The Seahawks are going to mostly keep rushing 4 like they do every week. If you had watched the Seahawks closely you would know they do the same stuff every week on defense.

Passion, this is a stupid question. It's like asking if someone thinks we will lose the Super Bowl if Russell Wilson throws four picks? Of course we want a better pass rush. That said, if Brady goes 19-34 for 178 and 2 picks like Aaron Rodgers, we have done great.

Yes, I know the Seahawks mostly rush 4 every week. But if you watched more closely you would know that Pete occasionally sends 5 or 6, like on the last play before green bay's final field goal. It's a dangerous precedent. I also know that Bennett and Avril are good, but they weren't that great yesterday, as evidenced by the green bay's final drive in the 4th quarter that put them in field goal range.

I said they mostly rush four. Every team in the history of the NFL blitzes at least on occasion.

Packers O line is maybe the best in the NFL in terms of pass blocking. If anything that game showed that Seattle needs to re-do their offensive line, they are fucking terrible. Bailey was being rag dolled by a 500 year old Peppers all game long. But yes, New England's offensive line sucks. Seattle should have no trouble bringing push up the middle and heat from the edge.
 
Keep in mind the interior middle is missing its two best guys. Jordan Hill was playing really well and that was when the defense was at its best. They were lucky that he turned out to be even better than Mebane. You lose a few guys at one spot, there is very little you can do.

That being said, as others have noted NE has a worse OL than GB and Rogers statistically still had a poor game. The defense played well considering the offense had 5 TO's. Through the middle of the 3rd quarter, the offense turned it over 4 times and the drive summaries are below. If the offense doesn't turn it over and puts together a few good drives then the defense should be better and you should see a DL that isn't tired.

Even with the calf you have to be careful rushing Rodgers and keep some contain. With Brady there is no issue with that. You know right where you are going to find him - at the intersection of pain and suffering.

The Giants beat the shit out of him to win two SBs against him
