I saw Caddyshack at a "Saturday Night Movie" deal at the student union. When the lights went down, all you could heard were tops being popped...I think 4 of us smuggled in 2 cases between us. At the end when they brought up the lights, it looked like a frat party. It is part of my vocabulary...even my wife (who saw it once) says "So I got that goin' for me, which is nice"...

Blue Brothers, Caddyshack, and Shinning are all pretty heavy in my Yella lexicon.

I contend that pop culture hit the high point from about 1980 to 1987. Movies music and TV. It was also the last decade of shared entertainment experiences. 30-40 million watching a TV show. 20-40 million album sales for mega hits. Big box office.

Now we all can do our own thing and lose a lot of the shared cultural signposts. I have no idea if this is good or bad so lighten up Francis.

America does suffer from the lack of shared experiences.

1984 was the greatest all around year in UW sports history.

I pretty much only bought CD for albums released between 1965- 1980 at Tower on the Ave in the mid 90s. But I'm an old soul compared to most.

Empire is incredible. I debated long and hard on this one. Such different movies but two all-timers.

That's a good year.

Raging Bull has been called the best movie of all time by a fair # of critics. I see why, and I love it once every 10 years. There are numerous flicks on this list that I'll watch any time I see them on the guide though.

Tough choice.

It’s not even close to the best of all time and I don’t know how someone can say that about any movie, [/b]but it still is really good.

Well, when the show or magazine decides to run a best of list, they have to pick one.
