Well, Peters compounded the issue for sure. Obviously his penalty was unacceptable. But, after he was told to sit down he committed another sin in the eyes of Petersen, putting (throwing) his helmet on the ground.

I don't care what Grinolds asserts about anything related to Husky football. Hell, I would argue with him if he said, "water is wet."
But, I do like this quote from Petersen (paraphrased):
Not into stupid penalties. Non-issue whether a guy’s going to play or not if don’t conduct themselves right. Play the way we want, or not at all. It's the player's decision. For me, it’s easy.
Interpretation: the fast and loose days are over.
