This is one of your most interesting polls. Weezer, between Blue Album and Pinkerton, were a true force of nature (is Matt Sharpe the thing?). They fell off a fucking steep cliff beyond most multi-platinum bands after that. But their star shined very brightly. Blue Album and Pinkerton are top tier.
I'm a sucker for a good 12 string guitar hook…
Blue Album is Mt Rushmore of the 90s rock album for me. Catchy, kick ass songs from front to back.
Pinkerton doesn't have the recognizable hits, but it's an terrific and incredibly interesting recording.
I have both of the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs reissues which have mind blowing sounding.
Machine Head & Zombie belong on the list. March of the Pigs & 21st Century Digital Boy not as popular as those on the list but have great driving riffs

I’m more surprised that Say It Aint So was released in 1994. Feels like a song from the early 2000s.
Weezer's fans and vibes were just like the worst kind of band and drama kids when I was growing up so I legit would hide the blue album from my CD case so I didn't have to answer questions but that song and the guitar fill in Buddy Holly are incredible.

Not at all. I can picture the fucking band and drama kids who liked Weezer right now and I'm sure they're now all the people who try to pretend like they're not from the Valley or be like I'm from some terrible place etc. I will give Weezer and their vibe credit though for being nerdy before it was cool.

It's Corduroy off that album and it's not even close. Usually that is the 2nd (or 3rd) song played at the majority of live shows designed to get the Band and crowd all lathered up. It is an absolute main-stay in their sets 30 years later. @dnc is never going to like the vocals, but this is about the life and longevity of the riff and what it has meant to the fans and the band over the years.
And Corduroy isn't even the biggest Song off the album Vitology. Better Man earns that honor.

A drunk guy who might be Ern came on our bus after the 2022 Michigan State game and wouldn't leave and was oddly hostile but told me I WAS Stone Gossard in the best way possible.
Look, hoss, I'm not the same level of PJ fan as you. But I own this record on vinyl and have listened to it in glorious high fi A LOT.
Yes, Better Man and Corduroy are the 2 most classic, enduring masterpieces of Vitalogy.
I struggled with what to do with Better Man since the intro isn't "riffy" in the traditional sense like most of the stuff in these poles. It's more subtle guitar accompaniment type stuff and very fucking good BTW.
Corduroy is a better track than Last Exit but I don't know if the riff is better. I was trying to put in one song from Vitalogy - there's not room for all 3 - and I've always love the punch of Last Exit and the way it kicks off the LP. Big departure sound-wise from their first 2 albums.
