You have to be batshit crazy to accept a coaching job on Romar's staff. It's pretty much like taking a job at a retail store during holiday season.
I'm pretty sure this guy only gets coaching jobs as an incentive to get his kids to go to the college so it's not like he has better options
Edit: He's also a member of Romar's Evangelical Christian basketball club so he has that too, which will definitely be popular with the college-age kids

This is just a guess, but maybe dad didn't want the pressure of feeling like he had to bring his son to UW.
