We hiked some loop trail up over those rocks and down the other end in the middle of a mild winter a few years ago. There were about 300 others doing it plus some climbers out.
Somehow we ended up at a dog shelter in Madras and almost drove home with an all black, female malamute. Really pretty and big and sweet, but dumb as a box of rocks. I was able to explain to my GF just how much of a pain in the ass those dogs are and managed to dodge that bullet.
Also I knew someone who knew someone who fell and died there doing a free solo climb. He was kind of famous I think and the chick I knew was a climber groupie and had doinked him.
Kim story for the day. I know my readers hang on my every word so it's good of me to share.
