Great player. Legitimate HOF'er. But much closer to the bottom end of the HOF than the top. Already tired of hearing about him and his final season hasn't even started. This is going to be ugly.

His 5 gold gloves pisses me off more than anything. He's one of the worst defensive SS in baseball history.
 
the retirment tour is going to be twice as bad as it was with Rivera.
He has 3,300 hits. and a .312 average so it's a legitimate 3000 hits (hi craig biggio) 250 bombs, 3 titles, and is one of the best defensive SS in baseball history. Curious as to why u think he's at the bottom end of the HOF.
 
Jeter is God. DNC, stop hatin'! I want my kid to be Jeter. His numbers alone are sick. But the women he bagged over 20 years is in a class all by itself. Anyone who doesn't respect Jeter in every way is gay. And that's ok but I'm just sayin'. And he has 5 rings...

Well, I probably stated it poorly. If you just list the HOF SS's top to bottom Jeter comes in well above the median. Again, he's a surefire HOF guy. Probably a bona fide first ballot guy.

But the distance from him to the top of the SS pile (Honus Wagner) is much bigger than the distance from him to the bottom of the pile. Truth is there's a lot of mediocre SS's in the Hall of Fame. Jeter belongs in the Hall, but he's nowhere near the GOAT at his position. He's not even the greatest modern SS - he's well below Cal Ripken.

Great player, and well overrated.

 
This poll is nonsense. As njla already stated, Jeter's lady list over his career already makes him the most decorated Hall of Famer in baseball history. The 13 all-stars and a .312 career batting average is just icing on the cake.

There is nothing to support that. He's -9 for his career in defensive WAR. If he wasn't such an icon to New York, the Yankees would have moved him years ago. He has a good glove, but the guy has always had limited range.

Great player though who did seem to often come up clutch in the playoffs and has been consistently very good.
