The NCAA changed the rule yesterday. Offense now gets to choose to keep the 5 yards get the time restored. Still a bit of a loophole, though, because the time isn't restored if the 12th man is attempting to leave the field pre-snap.

I am pretty sure Lan Dannings publicity person told him to claim it was on purpose to improve on his appearance of ineptness from 3 straight close losses to UW.

Because of this one play demonstrating something? I dunno about that. Lanning is not the straw that stirs the drink for Oregon football. Every coach, sans the single year of Willie, has had success at Oregon during the Phil / Nike era.

I sadly would trade Fisch for Lanning probably straight up right now but I just don’t think the Lanning thing works nearly as well at UW. His far and away biggest strength to me has been hiring young good OCs and seemingly allowing them to do their thing. Dillingham ended up being a great hire especially if he is what brought Nix but he looked like a joke when they gave him the job. Stein was a great hire.
