Cyler Miles bringing ‘a different swagger’ to UW offense
“This team, it seems a little more confident — no, (we have) a lot of confidence,” Mickens added. “Because we know this guy. You’ve seen him at Oregon State; you’ve seen him come in at UCLA and almost win it for us. And it’s a different swagger when he’s out there. He’s another Keith Price. He’s changing plays, he’s reading coverages, he’s faking the defense out with this, that. It’s amazing to see him do. When he rolls out, he’s still looking down the field, keeping his arm square. If he has to run, you know he can run. He’s making everybody else play better.”

Jonathan Smith says Cyler Miles won’t be perfect, ‘but we expect him to make some plays’
Huskies offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith offered a more tempered evaluation of Cyler Miles’ potential impact on Washington’s offense than did a few of Miles’ offensive teammates.

“We obviously hope we score more than 17,” Smith said, referencing the Huskies’ 17-16 victory at Hawaii last week. “We’re going to have to. And he’s going to go out there and this will be his first game. Is he going to be perfect? No. But we expect him to make some plays.”

Smith said the decision to start Miles was made some time on Sunday. Here’s the rest of what Smith told reporters after Wednesday’s practice.

Tosh was like a father to many of these kids from trouble homes. I didn't say he was their father, just like a father. Don't twist.

Now, if Mickens could learn to catch the damn ball...

Biggest talker for someone who drops 1 or 2 passes every game. He's not bad, but he's really only had one big game since coming to UW and that was against Cal.

And Cal was ranked too high

Never been a Mickens fan but I thought he had a big game against CCCP

He did. I forgot about that. He's a doog legend though. "Oh, Jaydon who is in the legion of zoom? Has the legion of zoom ever met the legion of boom? What guys are badgering you about getting into the legion of zoom?" The comments from the people who lap it up is annoying too. "Really charismatic kid. Million dollar smile. Best interview on the team. My favorite player." He has stone hands and it's not going to change. How easy of a catch was the ball from Lindquist in the flat? The same people who love Mickens probably were the ones who hated Kearse for his drops.

Mickens is best at catching bubble screens and tunnel screens. I'm sure Doogpound has a breakdown of his YAC somewhere, but I'm going to guess it's 90% of his receiving yards.
