People need to watch some clips of Shockey with the Giants to remember or understand how good the guy was. Great in the passing game and a great blocking TE. And a total fearless war daddy if there ever was one. The whole package.

If anything Shockey is underrated historically. He was really good early in his career. Kellen Winslow Jr. actually should have been the best TE of that era but he had it worse between the earholes than even Stevens. Trippy to think about watching the Outside The Lines I think it was about how Winslow Sr. wouldn't let Jr. sign with UW because UW didn't have enough black coaches and my dad quipped so instead he signed with "soul brother" Larry Coker. Then my dad claimed it was actually because Neu was a scab in the 80s players strike. Early fake news, bro.
