Miami curiously produced some great players before they really arrived, and some of those tend to surprise people. Guys like Ted Hendricks, Jim Burt, Rubin Carter, Ottis OJ Anderson, Chuck Foreman, Dennis Harah, and my favorite obscure former Hurricane great, Burgess Owens. One of the first black players recruited to play at Miami, graduated with a degree in chemistry, first team All American, first round pick and 10-year starter in the NFL, including as a starter on the 1980 Raider SB champ team. Truly obscure trivia: Owens took a kickoff to the house his rooking year, and that would be the only kickoff TD the Jets would score during the entire decade of the 70s.The first great Cane was this fella right here…The first of the great Canes!
