The loser pussies that unfortunately comprise much of the UW fan base and 100% of Dawgman (minus a few poasters that will end up here) are so obsessed with Oregon returning to mediocrity, that they think this is a big loss for UW. Fuck that.

I don't view it as bad for UW. I think it's a good thing. Perhaps its a fucking wake up call to Sark, Woody and the Bill Fleenor's of the world that UW ain't doing shit or going anywhere until it strives to be a championship program. Its inevitably going to result in fans becoming less patient and increasing their expectations.

War's over. We lost.

When are you guys going to build a new facility in honor of Mark Emmert? He's done more to help Oregon over the last decade than just about anyone else out there.

 
What doogs fail to realize is that even if Oregon got hammered, it wouldn't change the fact that we are a mediocre team. We have lost 18 games the past three years and Oregon only accounts for three of those.

It shows how cunty the fanbase is. They support a mediocre coach and don't get that upset when we get blown out 3-4 time a year, but they lose it when Oregon doesn't get punished.

We lost before we entered the war. The war started when Lude went out and Hedges came in. The war was being waged pre doogman and before most had the internet, let alone message boards. The battles were being fought between the football program and it's boosters and Gerberding/Hedges. Hedges needed to expand Olympic and women's sports not in addtion to football, but at the expense of football. Gerberding resented that the football program oveshadowed the univesity and hated the fact that to win, you had to being in players and coaches capable of winning and sometimes that invites some undesierable characters on campus.

I don't think it was a matter of not wanting to win, it was a matter of not wanting to do what it takes to win at the level the championship level. When Rick started making headlines for things other than winning, it was war over. Now UW is entrenched in a culture of mediorcity that seems palatable to most fans and the admistration. 7 wins a year. Sometimes a couple more, sometimes a couple less. No big NCAA issues, no emabarssing news stories (when players do run into trouble they are dealt with in a way that favors the univeristy), football is in it's place along side the other sports. No better, no worse.

We should never forget the incredible media feeding frenzy beginning even before the Babs mismanagement of BJH's loans(which were legal and not a rules violation) came to light. It is said that the Dawgfather blamed the entire scandal and it's disastrous affects on Husky Football on The Seattle Times,...... which I have always construed was meant for the Puget Sound media in general including TNT, Herald, PI, KOMO, KIRO, and KJR as well as The L.A. Times and national media of all flesh-eating, blood-sucking species.

I have always believed that it was this extreme media attention, which actually began before Lude was forced out and built to it's scandalous crescendo under Bab's incompetence, that resulted in UW power folks on campus beginning with the regents and Gerberding turning on us and deciding the only way to clear the University's name and reputation was to bring Husky Football down a notch or several, whatever it took.

I don't believe this was a conspiracy so much as it was simply disgust amongst the UW academic community and Seattle high society created by the attention Husky Football's success had attracted. It's now become interesting to contrast UW's totally fucked-up academics versus athletics hypocrisy in 1992 with today's pragmatic UO policy of protecting what for them is good and wholesome if occasionally cheating success of duck football.
