What would be a better idea is to actually have a student football league. I mean, go back to amateur football with the students playing. You can still keep the semi-pro team. The student real version would have no TV timeouts, no fancy uniforms, no spring practice, no fucking "brands." Just play up on Denny Field.

Cleary the power brokers in the sport have been moving us to NFL 2.0. We're pretty much down to the Power 2 with old school conference alignments destroyed. 12 team play offs and the kids are getting paid. Smells pretty NFLish to me.
I'd love to wake up one day and have it be pre BCS era college football and realize it was all just a bad dream, but that ain't happening.

The current system is fine without the 2 biggest conferences splitting off. They will get the bulk of the playoff invites
FCS 2.0 is retarded
The year is 2036. 11 teams remain in FBS football. After the initial culling the Power 1 decided that the team with the least amount of viewers each year would be voted out to the wastelands of the Mountain PAC.
Deon Sanders is the highest payed person in sports at a consistent 6-6 record because of his aptitude to draw viewers with his pseudo racism and coordinator hires of LeBron and Aaron Judge.
Games take over 7 hours to complete as 300 players show up to the field and negotiate their single game contracts on the field before each game for either team. Most sit out the 4th quarter if they are down by more than one score.
All 11 teams will make the playoffs.
Students are no longer allowed in the stadium as they can no longer justify selling tickets for cheap.
The Stadium DJ plays a remixed version of Boomer Sooner before fading to Mo Bamba as the viewers at home keep their credit card in hand to pay for the the new streaming service they need to view the 2nd quarter. The ESPN header reads that they have made record profits and will pass along the money to the customers by giving them one free month of ESPN .com (with the purchase of 11 month subscription). YellowSnow smiles.
Just one more fix ought to do the trick
Listen my Canuck Pal, if I was in charge, the following would occur:
- No more playoff
- Kids don't get paid unless they wanna cheat
- No more un-restricted transfer portal
- I'd bring back the old Pac-8, send @89ute and @Pitchfork51 back to the fucking WAC and make the Big-8 and SWC great again.
The only positive change in college football in the past 30 years in beer in the stadium. That's a great innovation.

Can I add to this that the in-stadium experience at HS is shit compared to pre-renovation? All they do is blare music between each play and run incessant ads. One of my kids sat with his hands on his ears for 2/3 of the last game we attended because he was sick of the blaring music being played the whole time, and the stadium announcer is also fucking annoying.
Let the band play their shit and otherwise let the fans make noise.

I think architecturally speaking, New Husky Stadium is great and shows very well on TV during big games (e.g., Oregon in 2023).
But the Old Husky Stadium experience was way more fun as fan.
And furthermore, one could argue NFL 1.0 has done a way better job of preserving regional rivalries AND they have a more sane system for player compensation.
