Chris Petersen and Olin Kreutz are on the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot!

Petersen is in rather easily. I can think of a lot of Husky linemen who should go before Olin but I don't want my face smashed in so he's in too
Two things on Kreutz I posted about recently:
- I remember my dad saying in the late-90s that Kreutz may have told Hawaiians not to go to UW? It lines up with it seeming like that timeframe we didn't sign many guys from the island.
- He has one son returning as an honorable mention All-Big-10 center and another projected to be a starter at linebacker. Don't remember anything about them in the recruiting process and they grew up in Chicago but I'm sure both could be contributors on UW so sucks it seems like they weren't even recruited.
Olin was one tough sob. College HOF? Get the fuck out of here.

He was a consensus AA and 2x first team all Pac player at Washington and a pretty decorated pro with 6 pro bowls, 2 first team all pros, 2000s all decade team and a semi-finalist for the HOF in 2020 (though I don't think he'll ultimately make it). What happened with Wiggs was shitty and the negative recruiting, if true, also shitty. But … I could see college HOF with him. Someone needs to make his case.
He was playing at Washington when I was still around campus and knew some players. By reputation (I certainly didn't know him), he was hot-tempered and flew off the handle pretty quickly. And obviously you wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that. He was, again by reputation, one of those people you were best advised to spend less time around than more. But he wasn't like a criminal or glorified gang banger or anything like that. I think just an asshole.
I am always surprised how many players wind up living long-term in the state where they played. Frank Garcia made North Carolina home and Kreutz still lives in Illinois. Like, you have money. Why would you stay in Illinois?

Definitely a great dawg between the lines and as race said, 100% want him and his toughness along the line of scrimmage. Maybe it was his era or probably not loving the Lambo years and underachieving team success that biases me. You make a solid argument with his college accolades that I definitely didn’t remember. I remember his pro career, each year seeing his name for years. Breaking Wigs jaw if memory serves me right is mostly what I remember him for as a dawg.

The Wiggs situation is what most Washington people remember about Kreutz, which is a shame. But it was a sucker punch (as the story is told) and that sucks and people generally don't respect that kind of shit.
The truth of the matter is that these programs are full of people you wouldn't want to have over for dinner. It's the nature of it. Someone was talking about Pharms in another thread. That's a good example.

I think because he raised his family in Illinois. His son is the starting center at Illinois. Will be a 3 year starter and probably all Big 10 this year

Someone already mentioned his kids growing up there. There’s also money to be made through local advertising and TV/radio shows. Chicago has a million bill boards and there are plenty of them featuring current and former Chicago sports stars.
