...I fell into the trap of thinking Chicago was a murder haven.

Turns out those pushing that info were misleading us.

Who knows if there is a causal link between their gun control laws and the murder rate.

But we do know one can't honestly cite Chicago as a significant example of liberal gun policies gone wrong.
 
Fair enough. But comparatively it's not an outlier, like so many on the right have claimed.

What changed? Better policing, probably. A better economy. And the pushing of violent crime outside of Chicago's borders, to depressed neighboring towns like Gary—where homicides jumped nearly 30 percent in 2013, and where many of Chicago's illicit guns come from.

Isn't it amazing what can happen when the police determine that hundreds of people committed suicide in Chicago by having other people drive by and shoot them?
