He must have made people in the power structure unhappy somehow to actually get in trouble. A politician making shady deals, taking advantage of his status and profiting off his position? You don't say. In a perfect world, these political profiteering scum would all be thrown in jail to replace all the non-violent "criminals" who like hookers and blow. Hey, the private jails need to make their profits somehow.
