Complete failure of the justice system that he doesn't have to tell them how and why he did anything to get the deal. I'd want to know the specifics of the case because at one point he was supposedly fucked on DNA evidence, some delivery guy saw his car, etc.
Even in red Idaho they really don't want to off a multiple murderer. Last death penalty carried out in 2012. Then on top of that no complete confession on motive. I'm pissed and I'm not a family member. Take some history and then figure out that people really aren't any different than they were thousands of years ago when justice was conceded to the state rather than settle it with tribal justice that went on for generation ala Hatfield and McCoy or Shiite versus Sunni.
But can’t he just tell the lord and savior he loves him before the first bullet hits and get a guaranteed pass to Jesusland? Seems like 30 years in the penitentiary with fleeting hope of an appeal is probably a more fitting punishment.
It isn't a more fitting punishment. He took the deal because life in prison was better than getting killed. Focus on that. Most of the families wanted him dead. Focus on that. Once sort of red Oregon sentenced people to life in prison instead of the death penalty. They promised with no chance of parole. It was LIFE. Then years later, soft worthless dem scum Oregon governors started letting them out. Last death penalty enforced was in Oregon was 1997 and that was because the criminal was guilty, pleaded guilty and demanded a quick execution and said no appeal. Still the ACLU appealed that the criminal was insane for not appealing and the case went all the way to the Oregon Supreme Court which then upheld the conviction and death penalty and then refused to hear additional appeals. Today, the leftist court would have come up with an excuse not to execute.

You do realize that actually getting to the point of carrying out the death penalty costs way more money than just imprisonment for life, right?
But it shouldn't. Tighten up the level of proof for a death penalty conviction to indisputable evidence and then enforce the law. Major Hassan shot and killed 13 soldiers and injured 32 others in 2009. He was shot on the scene and pleaded guilty. There is no doubt that he was the murderer. It took four years until 2013 to convict him and sentence him to death. He is still on death row 12 years later. This isn't justice. It isn't law. It is in this case a federal justice system that won't enforce the law. It's not me that votes for this shit.

Puffing your chest about bringing back a firing squad and then just doing this with a serial killer that carved up girls on one of your main public campuses is just a bad look. I'm sure people in Idaho look at us and don't care since we're such a trainwreck in every conceivable way, but still.
Keeping them in prison is 35-50K a year. Death penalty by firing squad i costs 3 rounds of 30-06 ammo. he'll file an appeal for his confession anyway.
