I don't get bitcoin despite being an avid reader of this board
But one thing I have always thought is that there is no way the government or governments are going to let a currency they don't control last long term

Digital USD is how the government and corporate class will finally turn us all in to serfs.
The entire concept of a "government cryptocurrency" is antithetical to the point of a crypto currency i.e. privacy and independent anonymity that the government can't just print more of.
They are waking up to the threat crypto is to there monopoly on fiat currency.
