You are correct. It isn't some massive sum of money, but it isn't nothing either. And if you cannot see the hysterical hypocrisy in a guy who spent the last 50 years railing against the evils of capitalism having multiple nice homes and a net worth in the millions, then none of us can help you. I'd respect Bernie a lot more if he had one modest home in his district, and gave all his extra income to the poor. But instead he is a millionaire who has made a living out of bashing his own kind. He's a grifter. You know this.
It's okay to not defend an obvious huckster like this HH. There are a TON of grifters on the right. I don't defend them. Most politicians are slimy losers. Bernie is no different. You do not have to defend everyone who votes the way you do.

I have two issues with Bernie: (1) guns; and (2) that he thinks being LBJ-lite somehow makes him a "socialist".
I agree that $170,000 grand isn't nothing. But a one-time hit of $170K isn't life changing for him either. (It's also a lot less than Clarence Thomas collects in undisclosed "gifts".) Elon Musk, of all people, talking about this $170K hit as big money is beyond laughable.
The issue is that Bernie is a POS hypocrite. Why no discussion of the Biden family grift? Makes Thomas's legal "gifts" look like a piker.

Guns is the only thing I moderately like about Bernie, but appreciate your candid answer. If Thomas is grifting (I am unaware of these charges or accusations) then I will call him a POS as well. I have a buddy who works for SpaceX and knows Elon reasonably well...his "man of the people common man" schtick is legendary around the water cooler.

It’s telling that small business community by and large hates these people. Anyone that’s ever built anything on their own sees the policies that these parasites flog as antithetical to the American way of life.

I don't hide. I don't run. I hunted men for a living and I was good at it. I spent my life making the publics life better and putting criminals where they belong. I've done more worthwhile shit in a day than you've done in your life. While doing that I also built ran and sold two businesses. And I do mean built with my own hands. Successful, money making businesses. So yeah I simply sucked at the government teat.
