Backstory on the Smalls recruitment

Props to Pete K. He started working Smalls 3+ years ago then pulled back when Smalls went big shot punk under the spell of was Joey Thomas who initially soured Smalls on UW.

PK and Pete at that point walked away. Internally, they decided if Smalls became a Husky he would have to initiate the contact. They were done.

One time this summer, PK and Smalls ended up at the same event. PK passed right by Smalls and said hello. It was cordial, professional. PK kept walking

A few weeks later a contrite Smalls called PK and Pete and apologized for publicly dropping UW. He expressed he still had serious interest in Washington if they still had interest in him. PK and Pete re-engaged Smalls and teamed up with Huard for a full court press on Savell.

It helped by this time that Joey Thomas had packed up his shit and moved away. Savell's one time mentor, it was Thomas who had perpetuated the OKG anti-African American schtick.

Away from Thomas now, Smalls started listening to his parents. They wanted him to stay home; they believed in Pete's Built for Life spiel. Smalls FSU visit turned him solidly back towards home when he got an inside look at the Taggart shit show that his one time "mentor" Joey,T. tried pushing him to. Clemson by this time had filled up, Bama had 4 elite OLB commitments. The stars began aligning in UWs favor.

Sam and Savell became close. About six weeks ago, the winds began blowing heavily in UW's favor. I began hearing UW believed they'd probably get Smalls but that it would go all the way to signing day. In my gut, I thought if Smalls was going to UW, he'd follow Sam's lead, announce early and help recruit the final spots in the class...

So there you are.

Yes, Teq, everyone notices you.

I had a feeling this would go this way for the same reasons Baseman described beginning when he and Huard became public BFFs. It wasnt tea leaves or inside info. It was just optimism spurred by the changed situation.

Big fucking deal. I didn't feel it strongly enough to say so here. I didn't show up after a long absence and downplay/diminish a great, informative post. I'm not a attention whoring fuck bag though.

Hey everybody, I was RIGHT and I was FIRST. May 2nd bitches.

I rarely play the part of the glass half full guy, but here goes... This is far from over. It's May, and awfully warm for December.

Putting out an article with the sole purpose of saying Fuck You to UW reads like an emotional overreaction to something.[/i] "Sounds like you care," in recruit form, basically. UW's definitely in a shitty spot right now, but it's not the worst spot. I'd rather be here than given a pity spot in a top 6 (s/o Cuog) when in reality the kid is apathetic and never seriously considering coming here.

It's like a girl saying she fucking hates you and never wants to talk to you ever again after a fight ... in reality you're going to beat again in a week or two once the dust settles. It sucks in the moment, but you jerk off in the interim and let her get over it. Compare that to going on a couple dates, it's okay but you never click, maybe get a courtesy kiss, but it's obviously not going anywhere.

You can flip an emotional reaction because there's something to work with; you're dead in the water once apathy sets in.

Just kidding I don't really give a fuck (I do, but I'm playing a character that doesn't.) @Baseman you're the man. @Tequilla you are not.
