Wife threw a fit about how disgusting our room is, so my weekend plans turned on a dime, with me now staring down weeks of bedroom renovations. Starting with ripping up the nasty carpet and subfloor. House is 95 years old, but half the master bedroom is in a small extension that was added on in, I assumed, the '80s.

Pretty sure it was actually built in, oh, 1945, as that's the date on all of the newspapers I found between the two layers of subfloor. Some choice selections:

I've got a few more, just wasn't sure if it was already too much or not. I was ripping up the floor with the flat edge of a pick axe, and I'd gotten well into it before I realized, "You know, this stuff might be worth preserving, and I should be more careful."

The few scraps I photographed were all I didn't turn into tiny shreds, which is too bad.
