Alberta’s Shocking Move: Will It Become the 51st State?

As much as I would love to see it and believe it would be a good thing for Alberta if they joined the USA, the overwhelming majority (about 67%) are not behind it. Even if they were, there are so many hoops to jump through I just don't think its possible.
I have old friends that live in the rural area outside of Calgary and they are big backers of the movement but they believe it is at least 20 years away from being a real possibility.
 
Just strike a seperate trade deal with Alberta. That’s enough.
 
You can kill yourself or get state funded bottom surgery very quickly in Canada. I’ll give you that. Cancer screenings wait times are more of a mixed bag though.
 
The best US healthcare is better than anyone's. The best US healthcare is not available to most Americans.
Canada routinely rates much higher because it delivers better healthcare overall.
Your predictable anecdotes about some Canadian who came to the US for a procedure remain anecdotes.
