The man grew up dirt poor with a militant crack head mother and made something of himself. So what if his career started like that? The only thing he did wrong was sign with Suge, but it's not like he was sent to a country club prison.

He also believed in the right to bear arms, magnificently illuminated by shooting two cracker cops and getting away with it. I'm all in for the fucker based on those two things right there. Fuck whitey.

Thug Life was Pac's way of being a revolutionary and a self destructive hell-raiser of the highest order.

His shit doesn't sound great in the club for the most part, and that's a fucking good thing in my book.

He also sprinkled in a couple soft patronizing tracks to placate/confuse the feminist DeLores Tucker types, and then followed it up in a later track letting Tucker know "this is why we call them hoes bitches." Manipulative motherfucker, and had politicians from the left and right trying to ban his shit.

Most of Tupac's tracks make you want to go to war, not dance on the sideline like a Sark faggot.

Arrogant? Yes. But crazy fucking fearless and brilliant and stupid.

Big is great too, but they're not good comparisons, in my opinion.

I agree. You can throw on Biggie at a party and create a vibe. He has multiple bangers. Pac is good, but it's more riding in your car alone stuff. He was a talented guy though. Good actor too.

I do think the almost universally accepted premise that these two are the greatest rappers of all time is FS. If Nas died in '96 after his second album, people would probably put him in there.

This might have been true pre-Macklemore but he's obviously taken over as the world's greatest rapper EVAR!
 
2Pac was a better poet. A better actor. A better activist. A better thinker. Hands down.

But side by side, Biggie has the better flow. He is smooth where 2Pac is staccato. Biggie leaves space, where at times 2Pac is anxiously trying to cram every thought into every line.

I also think East coast rap generally shits on West coast rap. So maybe I'm biased.
