A top 10 coaching salary as being reported at around $9.5 to $10 million per year doesn’t sound like the school not supporting football to me.

Easy conclusion but doesn't seem correct.

Everyone publicly wanted to pay him and give him whatever he wanted, if UW AD wasn't budging and he actually wanted to stay he could have just floated the thing(s) he wanted publicly and the public would have put immense pressure on the UW AD and got those things too. If he wanted to stay he would be staying and getting everything he wanted. He wanted to leave.
